STEEP DREAMS is a three-day celebration of skiing and ski mountaineering at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, BC.

Day One, Friday, will include a vertical race as well as various clinics and opportunities to check out the course, practice skills, and generally ski your face off.

Day Two features an Individual race - one of four on the Canada Cup circuit, focused on full value terrain.  The race is open and accessible to all participants, but you can expect to see the fastest racers in North America toe the line as this is the North American Championships!  Also included in this event are Masters,  Junior, and Recreational categories.

The third day of the festival showcases even bigger terrain with the only teams race in Canada, and one of very few in North America.  This will take racers, in teams of two, through the gnarliest/awesomest terrain Kicking Horse and the Dogtooth Range has to offer - and remember, this mountain is a stop on the Freeride World Tour, so we have lots of options to work with.

The weekend will also feature gear rentals, skimo clinics, awards and a banquet.

CLINICS AND COURSE INSPECTION
This is the day to get yourself comfortable with the course, and beef up on any skills you feel are lacking.  Multiple experts will be on hand leading short clinics on various skills seen on the courses of the next two days.  A course inspection tour will be held leaving approximately mid-day.

VERTICAL RACE
After the hill closes to the public, you are treated to 800m of pure climbing, finishing with warm clothes and refreshments at the Heaven's Door Yurt.  Shorter courses will be set to match ISMF standards and for recreational racers.

The open course takes you through some of KHMR's best terrain, including the new terrain available the Ozone.   Two separate sets of results will be awarded:
- overall time, the traditional Skimo race format
- cumulative descents time, similar to Enduro style mountain biking ("Skiduro")
An shorter version of the course is also available for juniors and recreational competitors, which reduces the length and ascent but keeps the skiduro timing.

AWARDS AND BANQUET
Nobody likes a late-Sunday awards ceremony! Following the individual race, there will be an awards ceremony and the banquet in the evening.
