FAQ
Q: Is this sport any fun?
A: Yes.
Q: I've never done this before. Can I finish this thing?
A: The full length course is very similar in fitness demands to an Olympic distance triathlon or a marathon style mountain bike race like the Test of Metal (RIP). Open athletes will finish a skimo race around the 2 hour mark, depending on the course. If you can finish an Olympic triathlon in around 3 hours, or if you can run a half marathon without going too much over 2 hours, then you should enjoy the course. If not, it might be a bit of a sufferfest and we would recommend trying out the sport with the short distance course.
Q: Are splitboards allowed?
A: Yes. Any equipment that meets the requirements of Panorama and the competition rules is allowed. You can even switch your equipment between different competitions if you want: for example, you could choose a really light ski for the vertical race, and beefier gear for the individual and skiduro race.
Q: How do I stay warm at the start/finish line?
A: Gear transports will be provided for the vertical race, and gear storage will be provided for the individual races. Athletes can take a small bag to the race start, and leave their extra coat/pants/cold oatmeal in it for transport to the finish line.
